HOLMESGLEN / JINGELLA RESERVE
City of Monash
September 2018 - May 2019

The City of Monash in collaboration with Evergreen Turf and Endeavour Turf Professionals (ETP Turf) worked to reconstruct the rugby field at Holmesglen / Jingella Reserve in Ashwood.  The original site and home ground to the Harlequins Rugby Club was a poor draining, kikuyu ground that was originally constructed from the sites natural soil which led to severe surface deterioration in winter and limited usage / activation hours.
ETP Turf supported Council with the full scope of this project beginning with the initial site investigations, design, technical specification and tender proposals, project management, and still to this day are engaged for ongoing consultancy and expertise ‘inside the fence’ at City of Monash.
The supportive and efficient team of consultants, designers and agronomists from ETP Turf successfully worked with Council to redesign the drainage profile and provide management solutions for contaminated soil discoveries with minimal impact on budget and construction time frames.  With regular site visits, face to face and online meetings, professional and honest communication, Council was informed throughout all stages of the project which in turn were able to keep all stakeholders abreast of all developments and progress.
One key element of this project for ETP Turf was to ensure the design and construction complimented the requirements of the existing infrastructure including the perimeter fence, coaches’ boxes and surrounding landscape which was successfully achieved by proven planning and design methodology along with ETP Turf’s excellent project management and contractor liaison.
The newly reconstructed Holmesglen / Jingella Reserve now features superior drainage and irrigation solutions, the ability to accommodate increased hours of use thanks to the new uniform and stable profile boasting a warm season grass (Santa Ana couch) chosen for its drought tolerance and wearability.
