David McGeary has a Degree in Agricultural Science from the University of La Trobe (graduated in 1979) as well as a Masters Degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Melbourne (graduated in 1985). David has worked in the turf industry for over 27 years.
David has extensive experience in turf consultancy with a wide range of clients including sportsfields, golf, racetracks, tennis, bowls, cricket, local government, schools and Universities. The diverse consultancy work conducted by David in the turf industry includes problem solving, pest and disease diagnosis, auditing of sporting surfaces, formulating fertiliser, management and capital works programs, construction design and supervision, contract management, soil and water analysis.
Experience includes more than 30 years working in the Australian commercial turf and seed industries, specialising in technical consultancy and agronomic extension projects in regional and national turf situations. International turf seed experience includes the turf seed industry in USA and New Zealand. An analytical, tactical and practical approach to resolving commercial turf industry problems, coupled with a creative ability to think outside the square ensures results in commercial turf industry businesses and projects. Expertise includes a proven multi-skilled people communicator and manager with a record in turf consultancy, technical recommendations, product management, business development and project management. Project management experience ranges from small turf projects or businesses operating with limited resources, to medium national-sized turf projects or companies operating within a controlled budgeted environment. Knowledge and skills include direct technical recommendations, project management, turf construction and turf industry experience.
Jim Porter is a dedicated professional with 35 years’ experience in the agricultural and horticultural industries. 22 years in senior management roles has enabled him to acquire a wealth of knowledge in many aspects of horticulture and leadership that ensures delivery of high quality results in all positions held. Much of this experience was attained during 20 years as Course Manager of Australia’s leading golf course, The Royal Melbourne Golf Club, currently ranked in the top 6 in the world and most recently as the Coordinator of Turf Programs with Holmesglen Institute. Jim’s ability to anticipate, manage and adapt to the challenges associated with changing conditions in an efficient, economical and sustainable manner is a key attributator to his sucess. Jim’s strong communication and rapport building skills have enabled him to develop excellent relationships with all industry stakeholders, including board members, consultants, contractors and numerous local government authorities.
